Sheikh donates $2 million to UK cancer foundation

Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of Dubai, has donated $2 million to the Markey Cancer Foundation at the University of Kentucky.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai, gave the gift through Darley Stud Management, his Thoroughbred breeding operation in Kentucky.

The Markey Cancer Center will rename its blood and bone-marrow transplant unit in honor of the donation, hospital officials said. The unit will now be called the Darley Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
