Timothy Craig Tennent of Ipswich, Mass., will be the eighth president of Asbury Theological Seminary, the seminary announced Tuesday.
Tennent, 49, who was elected unanimously by Asbury's Board of Trustees, has been a professor of world missions and Indian studies since 1998 at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Mass. He holds master's degrees from Gordon-Conwell and Princeton Theological Seminary, and a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
Asbury Seminary is a private graduate school based in Wilmore. It has more than 1,600 students.
