A mother and her son have died, and her two other children are hospitalized following a crash on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway late Friday afternoon.
Candice Elaine Johnson, 28, and 3-year-old Kaden Johnson were pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital just after 7 p.m. Friday. Christian Johnson, 5, was in serious condition, and Logan Bruner, 8 months, was in critical condition at UK early Saturday evening.
The family had recently moved to Bowling Green from Blackwater, Va., according to the Fayette County coroner's office.
Johnson was driving east on the Cumberland Parkway about seven miles east of Russell Springs at about 4:20 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the median and was hit in the westbound lane by an oncoming vehicle, state police said.
