A man whose car split in half after he hit a tree and a utility pole on Briar Hill Road died Friday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
German Molina-Delgado, 26, of Mt. Sterling, died from a head injury he received in the crash on March 14, according to a report from the Fayette County coroner's office.
According to police, Molina-Delgado was fleeing a minor collision in Bourbon County when he crashed into a utility pole and tree on Briar Hill Road in Fayette County. Police said Molina-Delgado had hit a car in Bourbon County and the occupants of the car gave chase into Fayette County.
Molina-Delgado lost control of his Toyota Camry in Fayette County as it crossed railroad tracks at high speed, police said. When it hit the utility pole and a tree, the car split in half.
