A Norfolk Southern train struck a car in Harrodsburg on Wednesday morning, but the occupants were able to get out safely before the collision, railroad spokesman Robin Chapman said.
The collision happened shortly before 7 a.m. at the Factory Street crossing.
The car stalled on the crossing and the driver notified Harrodsburg police, who in turn called Norfolk Southern, Chapman said.
"Our dispatcher tried to call the train crew, but by the time he did the train had already hit the car," Chapman said.
