Another skunk found in the Spurr Road area of Lexington tested positive for rabies on Friday, bringing the number of cases of the viral disease in Fayette County to seven so far this year, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.
The health department has posted signs in the area stressing the importance of keeping pets' rabies vaccinations up to date.
So far in 2009, five skunks, a fox and a horse have tested positive for rabies.
In 2008 there were four cases of rabies in Fayette County. Three of those animals were bats; one was a skunk, according to the health department
