A 25-year-old Kings Mountain woman was killed early Sunday morning near her home when she was struck by a minivan while lying in the northbound lane of Ky. 1247 in Lincoln County, Kentucky State Police said.
Clara L. Shearer was struck by a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Janie L. Simpson, 36, of Florence at 4 a.m. Sunday, police said.
The investigation is continuing but no criminal charges are expected, police said.
Lincoln County Coroner Bill Demrow said the victim was alone and lived in a nearby house with her mother, Carol Collier.

"She wasn't 50 feet from her home. She didn't get far, just lying down in the road," Demrow said.
He did not know why the victim was on the road.
An autopsy is to be conducted Monday at the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort, the coroner said.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and was accompanied by Roy Simpson, 41, of Florence, police said.
Members of the Lincoln County sheriff's office and the Waynesburg rescue unit assisted at the scene.
Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg is handling arrangements, which are pending.
