Former Gov. Paul Patton said Sunday that his wife, Judi Patton, was "doing great" at Pikeville Regional Medical Center after she underwent triple-bypass heart surgery Saturday.
"She's talking and joking in a private room and there have been no complications," said Patton. "It's been a textbook case, and she may be able to leave the hospital as early as Wednesday."
The former first lady, 68, woke up Saturday morning with chest pains and went to the hospital's emergency room.
Her sister, Anna Ruth Wakeland, said Patton had never had heart problems before. She was Kentucky's first lady from 1995 to 2003.
