NICHOLASVILLE — Fire severely damaged the second floor of a house on Juniper Drive on Tuesday afternoon, Nicholasville Fire Chief Charles Brumfield said.
No one was home, and there were no injuries, but two cats died, Brumfield said. Two other cats and three dogs were rescued.
The cause of the blaze at 420 Juniper Drive was not immediately known. The house is owned by Rex and Debbie Watson
Firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames when they arrived.

"The fire damage was pretty much to the central bedroom and the attic," Brumfield said. "It sustained substantial damage, but it can be repaired."
The first floor had some smoke and water damage.
Firefighters were called shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Wilmore firefighters assisted the Nicholasville department.
