A man died Thursday night after crashing his vehicle into a building on the grounds of Keene land Race Course, Lexington police said.
The Fayette County Coroner's office said the driver, Mario Morales Hernandez, 47, of Lexington, died at St. Joseph Hospital of massive internal injuries about 30 minutes after the 9 p.m. crash.
The coroner's office said, however, that it was unclear why Hernandez was unable to control his Jeep Grand Cherokee and that alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
According to police reports, Hernandez's vehicle went out of control and crashed into a cinder block building on the Keeneland grounds.
