Transylvania University students worked on an archeological dig at the old Catholic Cemetery next to the Main Fire Station on East Third Street. A chapel and a house were on the plot in the mid- to late 1800s. It was the earliest Catholic cemetery in Lexington, but most of the bodies were moved to Calvary Cemetery by the 1870s. It also is the site of the London Ferrell Community Garden.
