As of Monday night, a 132-acre forest fire at Red River Gorge was 75 percent contained, officials said. Rain, forecast for Tuesday afternoon was expected to totally contain the fire by the end of the day.
The fire had been reported at 175 acres because that was the area inside containment lines built by firefighters, but not everything in the lines burned, thanks to the weather, Jessica Santangelo, director of the Gladie Cultural-Environmental Learning Center, said in an e-mail.
Two crews were working on the fire, Santangelo said, and a helicopter and third crew had been sent home.
