A 14-year-old Paris boy was seriously injured Monday afternoon when a truck hit him as he was crossing a road, police said.
The boy, whose name has not been released, was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital after the accident, which occurred about 5 p.m. on Clintonville Road.
Witnesses said that "as he was crossing the road, he looked in one direction but did not look in the other," Paris police Lt. Michael Dempsey said Tuesday.
The boy lives in the area, Dempsey said. He was listed in critical condition at UK Hospital on Monday night.
The truck driver, Franciso Gonzales Combarros, 43, of Paris, tried to stop, Dempsey said. Combarros was ticketed for not having a valid driver's license.
