UK student reports assault

A University of Kentucky student was assaulted while walking on Columbia Avenue early Tuesday morning.

The female student was walking behind the W.T. Young Library at about 2 a.m. when someone grabbed her from behind by her bookbag. She fell against a parked car, causing a minor injury to the side of her face, according to a press release.

The student remembered seeing three men standing next to a vehicle parked nearby before the assault.

She went to the Violence Intervention and Prevention Center, which notified UK Police of the incident at 11 a.m.

The UK Police Department issued a crime bulletin notifying the campus community of the incident and urging students to follow simple safety guidelines such as not walking alone after dark and parking in well-lit areas.
