A woman died after a shooting on Bishop Drive in Lexington on Wednesday, and her boyfriend has been charged with murder, police say.
Lavena Gibson, 25, was identified Thursday by the Fayette County coroner's office as the victim.
About 5 p.m. Wednesday, Lexington police found Gibson lying in the grass suffering from several gunshot wounds, Lexington police Officer Robert Thomas said. Gibson had been shot as she tried to get into her vehicle, which was parked in front of the residence, he said.
Police arrested Edward M. Stokley, 34, and charged him with murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and first-degree wanton endangerment.
