A Lexington man accidentally shot his wife while cleaning a .45-caliber handgun at the couple's home Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The man was cleaning his gun in his office at his home on the 3500 block of Maidstone Court at about 2 p.m. when the incident happened.
"He thought the gun was unloaded and he pointed it at a wall and it discharged," said Lt. Edward Hart of the Lexington police.
The bullet went through a framed picture, a bottle sitting on a desk and the office wall. It exited into the hallway, where it hit the man's wife in the lower back.

"She met me at the door," Hart said. "She was actually walking around."
The couple's names were not released.
"They're really embarrassed," Hart said. "He had been around weapons his whole life."
No charges are expected to be filed.
