Lexington mom faces March trial in infant's death

A trial date was set Friday for a music teacher charged with murder and criminal abuse in the death of her infant son.

Fayette Circuit Judge Thomas Clark scheduled a March 15 trial date for Courtney Bishop. The trial is slated to run through March 25.

Bishop has pleaded not guilty. Her 1-month-old son, Caleb Eli Bishop, died at University of Kentucky Hospital in February 2007 after several days in the intensive care unit. His injuries included a broken leg, a skull fracture and retinal hemorrhaging, according to court documents.

Bishop attended the University of Kentucky from August 2000 until she graduated in August 2004 with a bachelor's degree in music education.

At the time of her son's death, Bishop was on maternity leave from Christ the King School, where she was a music teacher.
