Bronston man died Monday in surgery

A 22-year-old man who had been paralyzed after falling head-first into a pool earlier this month died Monday at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Thomas Nathan Burris of Bronston was at a home on Slavey Lane in Somerset when he slipped off the edge of the pool and hit his head at about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 15, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.

Burris' neck was fractured, injuring his spinal cord and resulting in quadriplegia.

Burris was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he died at 5:29 p.m. Monday of complications following a surgical procedure, the coroner's office said.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset is in charge of arrangements.
