Lexington city crews are repairing a break in the North Elkhorn sanitary sewer main, near Liberty Road and Star Shoot Parkway, according to a news release from the city. The break was found on Tuesday afternoon.
No sewage is leaking; it is being pumped into a manhole on Nickwood Trail. Repairs are scheduled for Wednesday night.
The line that broke is 29 years old and has had nine breaks in the last 12 years, including one in August, the news release said.
The break is in an area being improved under an agreement signed after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sued Lexington for violations of the Clean Water Act.
