Lexington pedestrians injured in tow truck accident

A tow truck struck and injured two pedestrians who were walking along the right shoulder of Richmond Road near Shriners Lane early Monday, police say.

The truck driver was distracted and drifted to the right, and the right side of the truck struck the pedestrians. The accident occurred just before 2 a.m.

Charges are not expected to be filed against the driver, Louis D. Lunsford Jr., 42, of Lexington.

The pedestrians are identified as Alfred B. Baker, 21, and Sierra T. Emrich, 19, both of Lexington.

Both taken to University of Kentucky Hospital, where Baker was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon. Emrich was still in the emergency room and no condition was available.

Police say they suspect that Baker and Emrich may have been drinking before the incident.

Emrich's Facebook page indicates that she is a 2008 graduate of Henry Clay High School and is a UK student.
