Bishop Brossart High School, a Roman Catholic high school in Alexandria (Northern Kentucky), is closing through Friday because of swine flu, and all extracurricular activities are cancelled.
Principal Richard Stewart said the school let out at about noon Monday after consulting with its superintendant and the Northern Kentucky Health Department.
He said 65 to 70 students out of a student body of 368 were out sick. He said there have been seven confirmed cases of swine flu among students. The school cancelled a football game on Friday after some players became ill.
By keeping students home, "we hope to be able to stop the spread," Stewart said. He said he hopes the school will be able to reopen Monday.
