Alcohol played a role in a crash that sent a Jamestown woman to the hospital Saturday morning, state police said.
Glenn S. Mitchum, 41, of Columbia, was leaving the Hardscratch General Store seven miles south of Columbia on Ky. 55 at 8:35 a.m. when he pulled out in front of a northbound Pontiac driven by Gwen Beckwith, 49, state police said.
After the collision, Beckwith's car crossed the road and hit a telephone pole.
Mitchum, who was not injured and had not been wearing a seat belt, was charged with driving under the influence and was taken to the Adair County Regional Jail.
