Police are searching for the owner of a car involved in a hit and run accident that left a man in a coma.
The 1999, silver Audi was found abandoned on a dead end street. According to Lexington police the owner, Hector Alviter-Rivera, 23, may be preparing to flee the area,
Police are also looking for witnesses to the accident Saturday night on Nicholasville Road. Anthony Gibbs, 24, was struck around 10:10 p.m. while he was trying to cross Nicholasville Road in front of Five Guys restaurant. The vehicle left the scene after hitting Gibbs. Gibbs, who was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital, was listed in critical condition and remained in a coma Sunday. Gibbs is from Clinton, Tenn., and was in town to do construction work, Gibbs family told police. Anyone with any information should contact police at (859) 258-3600.
