Investigators continued to work the scene of an apartment fire Wednesday to determine what caused the blaze.
Lexington firefighters were called to 2461 Georgetown Road about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. Heavy smoke and flames were visible when crews arrived, Battalion Chief Randy Gilliam said.
The fire appeared to have started in one of the five units, and it was destroyed, Gilliam said. The occupant of the apartment was not home when the fire began.
The fire caused smoke and water damage to an adjoining unit, Gilliam said, but the remaining three units were not damaged.
