Man arrested in Lexington after 20 years on the lam

A man who had been running from police for nearly 20 years was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Lexington Monday afternoon.

In February 1990, Patrick Sean McGowan, 62, was charged with first-degree statutory rape and molestation of a 5-year-old girl in Seattle. He was accused of abusing the girl between August 1985 and September 1986, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

He fled Washington after learning of the charges.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested McGowan in the 3600 block of Crosby Drive in Lexington on Monday. He was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center and charged with being a fugitive from the state of Washington.
