Steve Kay, 66, founding partner of the Roberts & Kay Inc. research and organization development firm, announced on Thursday that he will run for one of three at-large seats on Urban County Council.
"Our community is tired of rancor and divisiveness," Kay said. A major issue in his campaign will be "to bring the community together" for greater cooperation and collaboration."
Also, Kay said he remains mindful that "the effective use of taxes is the government's primary responsibility and should always be the first order of business."
Kay is a graduate of Bowdoin College, has a masters in philosophy from Yale University and a doctorate in education from University of Kentucky. He ran for council at large in 2006.
He is former vice chairman of the city's Planning Commission and is currently on the board of the Lexington Transit Authority.
