Florida has pulled slightly ahead of Kentucky as the states battle for the crown in the Big Blue Slam, the second annual blood drive between University of Kentucky and University of Florida basketball fans.
Kentucky had 295 donors on Thursday for a four-day total of 1,192 donors, but Florida, which had 305 donors Thursday, took the lead for the first time at 1,193. Friday is the last day of the blood drive.
All donors receive a Big Blue Slam T-shirt, and everyone who registers to give blood will be included in a daily prize drawing for a Fan Fun Basket and a trip for two to the NCAA Final Four weekend in Indianapolis. Donors must be at least 16 years old (with parental permission) and at least 110 pounds, and they must be in general good health. The drawing will be held April 1.
