Driver ejected, hit by second vehicle in Berea crash

A driver died Wednesday after he was ejected from his vehicle after a collision near Berea and then struck by another vehicle, Kentucky State Police said.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Ky. 1016 east of Berea, when a Dodge Neon crossed over into the lane of a westbound vehicle driven by Mary J. Napier, 35, of Berea. The vehicles collided and the driver of the Neon was ejected.

The ejected driver was then hit by a vehicle in the eastbound lane driven by Jennifer L. McCracken, 40, of Berea. The ejected driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Napier was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Berea, where she was treated for a leg injury, police said. McCracken was not injured.

The deceased was taken to the state medical examiner's office, where an autopsy will be done.

The collision is being investigated by state police.
