Lexington man charged with filing false tax returns

A Lexington man was indicted Thursday for allegedly filing false income tax returns, according to a release from the office of the U.S. Attorney, Eastern District of Kentucky.

John Lee VanArsdale, 45, is accused of failing to report on his individual tax returns more than $240,000 of income he received from his business, Savage Technical Services, the indictment says. The indictment says VanArsdale knew when he filed the returns from 2003 through 2006 that they were false.

If convicted, VanArsdale faces a maximum prison sentence of three years.
