Lexington police search for cars involved in shooting

Lexington police are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting in downtown Lexington.

Just before noon, police received a call that occupants of two cars driving on East Fifth Street between North Broadway and Elm Tree Lane were shooting at each other, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

When police arrived, they found bullet casings in the road. The two cars, described by witnesses as a gray Dodge Magnum and a black Dodge Neon, had fled the scene, Roberts said.

No bystanders were injured. Police currently have no motive for the shooting and have not named any suspects.

Anyone with information should call police at (859) 258-3600.
