Authorities did not find a sport-utility vehicle in the Kentucky River near Clays Ferry as reported by an onlooker, a Lexington fire official said Monday.
Sonar equipment was brought in from Morehead to scan the river bottom. After a few hours, the search was called off because crews didn’t find the SUV and they hadn’t received any missing person or missing vehicle reports, fire Maj. Ed Davis said.
The fire department received a report about 8:30 a.m. Monday from a woman riding on a field trip bus on Interstate 75. She said she saw a black SUV in the river in southern Fayette County.
