The Fayette County Public Schools have named two more new principals for the coming year.
Leigh Ann Finley McLaughlin, a 16-year veteran in education, is the new principal at Southern Elementary School. She succeeds Freida Collins, who has retired.
McLaughlin, 37, started her teaching career at Southern in 1995, and since then has held posts at Rosa Parks, Maxwell and Harrison elementaries. She has been a teacher, literacy coach and professional staff assistant.
Meanwhile, Joy "Allison" Hayes has been named the new principal at Lexington Traditional Magnet School. She replaces Clay Goode, who is moving to another school district.
Hayes, 39, has been curriculum coordinator for the Moore Public Schools in Oklahoma City since 2008. Although born and raised in Kentucky, she has worked in both the Ohio and Oklahoma public school systems.
Both appointments are effect July 1.
