Lexington officer hurt in collision

A Lexington officer suffered minor injuries when a car collided with his cruiser Sunday night.

Officer Jon Tucker was driving south on Rose Street at 10 p.m. when a Toyota Corolla driven by Darion Flora, 18, of Lexington apparently ran a red light at Vine Street and crossed into the cruiser's path, according to a news release from police.

The cruiser hit the front of the Corolla, causing it to rotate. Both vehicles came to rest on Rose Street between Vine and High streets.

Tucker was taken to St. Joseph Hospital. Neither Flora nor a passenger in his car were injured, the release said.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, and all parties were wearing seat belts, the release said.

Flora was given a ticket for disregarding a traffic light.
