A public ceremony will be held Saturday to pay tribute to the legacy of the World War II generation.
The event, "Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive" is sponsored by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition.
The ceremony will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Aviation Museum at 4316 Hangar Drive. A proclamation designating Aug. 14 as "Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive Day" will be presented at 12:30 p.m.
A light lunch will be served during a meet-and-greet session from noon to 12:30 p.m., during which World War II veterans will share their stories.
