A Lexington man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries after crashing a moped Sunday.
Douglas P. Becksted II, 41, was riding on Harrodsburg Road near Lane Allen Road about 7 p.m. when he lost control and crashed into a utility pole, police said in a news release. Police said alcohol could have been a factor in the crash.
Becksted, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered a severe head injury in the crash, the release said. His condition was not immediately available.
On Monday, police were looking for a passenger who did not appear to have been injured after the moped came to rest in the street. The passenger dragged the vehicle off the road, then ran off, police said. Witnesses said he was about 17 years old.
