A 17-year-old was charged with first-degree arson Friday in connection to a fire that damaged a Lincoln County church last month.

On Aug. 4, the Crab Orchard Baptist Church on Stanford Street was damaged by a fire police believe was set intentionally, according to a news release from state police.

The Lincoln County juvenile, who has not been identified because of his age, was charged through the Office of the Court Designated Worker and taken to a detention center, the release said.

This fire, along with several others in the area, is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555, or the arson tip hotline at 1-800-27-ARSON.
