Carmax, the national chain of used-car dealerships, announced this week that it plans to open its first Lexington store next year.
The dealership will be at 105 Sand Lake Drive, off Richmond Road south of Man o' War Boulevard, and is expected to open between March and May, said Britt Drewes Farrar, a CarMax public relations manager.
The store will be 14,123 square feet and occupy more than 6 acres, Farrar said, adding that the it expects to employ 50 to 75 people.
The Lexington CarMax will be the second in Kentucky; the other is in Louisville. CarMax, based in Richmond, Va., runs more than 100 stores nationwide and mainly sells used cars and trucks.
