Whoever swiped an automated teller machine from a Lexington apartment complex overnight might be a little disappointed once they crack it open.
Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said the ATM taken from the Racquet Club apartment complex was out of cash and "needed to be serviced."
"According to the victims, it had not yet been refilled," Roberts said.
Workers at the complex at 3900 Crosby Drive noticed that the machine was missing when they arrived about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. A wheel dolly, possibly used to move the machine, also was missing.

Roberts said forensics officers were gathering evidence Wednesday.
"It's one of those unusual cases where getting tips from the public will definitely help us," Roberts said.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
