More than a dozen reported home burglaries in southern and western Jessamine County since mid-October has the sheriff's office asking residents to be especially vigilant.
Firearms and electronics have been among the property taken during daytime burglaries while people are at work, said Deputy Sheriff Larry Oliver. The property is probably resold to raise money for drug habits or to afford Christmas purchases, Oliver said.
The number of reported burglaries usually increases this time of year, he said.
Burglaries have been reported around Wilmore, including Handy's Bend Road, Clear Creek Road and Pekin Pike.
