Police at Eastern Kentucky University are urging staff and students to take extra precautions when parking their vehicles after receiving reports of eight thefts from cars since Sunday.
The thefts occurred from vehicles parked in lots around campus. Personal property had been left visible in all incidences, according to a news release from interim police chief Mark Merriman.
The Richmond Police Department is also investigating several reports of thefts from cars in numerous areas around the city. Those thefts also were reported last week, the release said.
Police are reminding people to lock their doors and make sure all windows are closed, and to remove valuables from vehicles or secure them in glove compartments or trunks.
