The Jessamine County Convenience Center, which accepts household waste materials, has recently installed 40 foot truck scales. The scales are available to the community to use free of charge. Examples of items that the center accepts are: mattresses, carpet, couches, appliances and furniture. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, and drop off loads are $35. per ton.. H1N1 Vaccinations from Health Department  

The Jessamine County Health Department is offering  H1N1 Vaccination Clinics on Nov. 19, Nov. 21, Dec. 10 and Dec. 12 at 215 East Maple Street, Nicholasville. Appointments are necessary. Call (859) 885-4149 for available times. 

  Asbury student wins state piano competition

Chan Mi Jean, a junior piano performance major at Asbury College, placed first in the state at the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Steinway Piano Competition held at Northern Kentucky State University on Oct. 17. Jean's, who is a student of Donald A. Zent, played a 40-minute program that consisted of compositions by J. S. Bach, F. Schubert, F. Chopin, and J. Kaplan. She will advance to the Southern Division of the Young Artist Competition to be held in January 2010 at Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama.
