WCHS Band Selected for Parade
The Woodford County High School band was selected as one of five high school bands to march in the Ninety-first Annual American Legion National Convention parade held August 23 in Louisville. The convention hosted representatives from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and four other countries. The band also received a $1,000 contribution from the American Legion in recognition of their participation.

Bluegrass Railroad Musuem Hosts Festival
The Trains, Planes, and Automobiles festival hosted by the Bluegrass Railroad Museum August 22 drew an estimated crowd of 1,200. The event featured a classic and custom car show, a model train and airplane swap meet, hay rides, pony rides, antique and miniature train rides, and an antique tractor and farm equipment show. Remote control model airplanes flew overhead, RJ Corman displayed a new "NextGen" locomotive, several car clubs participated, and Air Methods flew in a medical helicopter.
Plans for next year’s event are already underway to be held Saturday, August 14, 2010. Owners of clasic and custom cars as well as antique farm machinery are encouraged to mark their calendars. No entry fee was charged this year and little if any entry fee is expected next year. Viewers’ Choice trophies are awarded in the car show and RC Airplane category.
