I previously posted this in the spring before the children's consignment sale and I will be posting the fall consignment sale list next week. Hopefully this "how to" will help with your consignment sale shopping!
Next week I will be posting the bi-annual children's consignment sale list for the central Kentucky area. These sales are typically hosted by churches, preschools and moms groups and are held a couple times a year. These are not at the regular consignment stores in the area (which are also great), but are held typically over a weekend in the spring and fall seasons.
If you are not familiar with kids consignment sales, these sales typically have gently used (sometimes brand new!) clothing for kids of all sizes, lots of toys, baby bedding, strollers, car seats, and practically any baby gear you can imagine.
One tip I have learned from my past experience of shopping these sales is to be mindful of what you already have at home. The sales occur twice a year and focus on clothing for the upcoming season. I often will purchase a few items on clearance sales at the end of the season, hoping I guess the correct size for my son. If you do this as well, it is beneficial to see what you already have and decide what you need before you head out shopping.
For example, my child is desperately in need of shorts for the summer. He has very few that will work from last year due to his growing belly, so I will be focusing on finding him shorts at the upcoming sales. (This fall I am looking for pants. He is growing like a weed! Plus baby Frye will be in need of many, many items.)
Another great tip is to work at the sales so you can shop early! At all of the sales, those who work and/or sell are able to shop earlier than those who do not. Work shifts may still be available at the upcoming sales, so check those out and sign up for a shift so you can get the great deals before the general public.
It is also great to shop without children if you are able. The sales can be ubber crowded and shopping with strollers or trying to keep up with little ones can be very difficult and frustrating. It may be beneficial to also bring along a laundry basket or mesh bag to shop with; however, some of the sales have laundry baskets they provide for shopping.
For those of you who are regular consignment sale shoppers, what other tips would you offer?
Be sure to tune in next Wednesday for a list of consignment sales in the central KY area. And get ready to shop!
