Police have arrested more than a dozen people in a drug roundup in Breathitt County following a six-month investigation, according to a news release.
Many of the alleged prescription-drug dealers targeted in the roundup were identified based on tips from concerned citizens reporting suspicious behavior, said Dan Smoot, law-enforcement director for Operation UNITE.
Through November, Breathitt County residents had placed 816 calls to UNITE's tip line.
"In many instances information we receive from the public makes the difference in whether we're able to get these dealers off the street," Smoot said in a release from UNITE.
