Two people hurt after stepping in front of car

Two people were hurt when they stepped in front of a moving car on West New Circle Road Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Russell Cave Road.

A 20-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries and released from University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital Monday afternoon. The second victim, a 15-year-old boy, broke his ankle, Lexington Police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said.

Van Brackel said the two had just gotten off a LexTran bus and were crossing the outer loop when they were hit. Traffic going straight was stopped for a red light, but the two walked into the left turn lane, which had a green light. They were hit simultaneously.

Van Brackel said no charges were likely to be filed.
