Harry Moberly, 60, executive vice president for administration at Eastern Kentucky University, retired from that job on Jan. 1, according to information released by Eastern.
EKU President Doug Whitlock announced Moberly's retirement publicly at the school's board of regents meeting on Wednesday.
Moberly was a Kentucky state legislator for 30 years and was noted for his expertise on matters involving higher education and the state budget. He had worked for EKU since 1988.
A search for his successor has not yet been launched.

"During his tenure as our executive vice president for administration, Harry provided exemplary service to the university community," Whitlock said Thursday. "I appreciate all he has done to help make Eastern a more effective and efficient university."
