BILOXI — More than 300 people who sell gasoline for a living were talking about the world crisis and the effect on fuel supplies during Thursday’s Gulf Coast Food and Fuel Expo.
The expo at the Coast Convention Center combined the trade shows of the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama and the Louisiana Oil Marketers and Convenience Store Associations. It brought together gasoline distributors and food suppliers with convenience station owners from Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.
“The last thing we want are higher prices,” said Jeff Brown of Brown Oil Company in Gadsden, Ala. The jump in fuel price means higher costs to operate their delivery trucks, a greater expense for fuel inventory in gas station tanks and a bigger loss when customers drive away without paying.
