Kenseth's cleanshaven ways pay off for Junior

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Dale Earnhardt Jr. has had a profitable NASCAR offseason.

At least he will once he collects the $2,500 owed him by Matt Kenseth.

Kenseth grew a sizable beard in the offseason and when he attended Earnhardt's 70s themed New Year's Eve party, Earnhardt bet him he would not be able to keep it until testing at Daytona International Speedway in January.

Sure enough, Kenseth showed up on Thursday clean shaven and Earnhardt was quick to demand his money during his afternoon media session.

“Y'all can remind him that he owes me $2,500 because he had a beard that night and I bet him he couldn't keep it through the test, and we actually sent a few texts back and forth to confirm the bet, and he shaved his beard,” Earnhardt said.

“You guys can remind him – I told him to go to the bank, but maybe he forgot. I want my $2,500.”

Kenseth admitted he owed the money.

“I will try to scrounge it up somewhere I guess. This should count though; this is like three days (beard growth),” Kenseth said.

“Back when (Earnhardt) was younger he would have had enough beers in him that he wouldn’t have remembered that.”
