There's a new front in the war on breast cancer: dessert. Four restaurants in Lexington and seven in Louisville will offer special pink sweets in June to raise money for Susan G. Komen Kentucky.

Participating restaurants in Lexington include Coles 735 Main, Lockbox, Red State BBQ and North Lime Coffee & Donuts.

In Louisville, the restaurants include 8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen, Covered Bridge Golf and Country Club, Cuvee Wine Table, Red Herring Cocktail Lounge & Kitchen, The Bakery at Sullivan University, The Bristol Bar & Grille at all locations, Varanese and the River House Restaurant and Raw Bar.

Each restaurant can elect to donate the percentage of their choice to Komen Kentucky. Funds raised through Confections for the Cure will help support local breast cancer programs and global breast cancer research. Approximately 25 percent of donations will be used to support research, and 75 percent will fund breast cancer services and programs statewide, according to Susan G. Komen Kentucky.

The confections vary: at Coles, there's strawberry cheesecake; at Red State, the Pink Miracle strawberry shortcake in a jar; at Lockbox, raspberry panna cotta; and at North Lime, black raspberry chip doughnuts.
