Sara Luftman and Dottie Maloney of Haven Home & Garden talk about how they can help you style your home.

Haven Home & Garden is a home furniture, décor and design store in the former Hurst office furniture warehouse at 333 East Short Street.

Partners Sara Luftman and Dottie Maloney opened their store in November in the renovated building that was once a hospital and a coffee company. They have filled the space with a curated mix of vintage style and modern pieces.

The store’s artful layout of velvet sofas, sculptural pendant lights and traditional chests juxtaposed with modern accents “shows people how they can use maybe what’s in their home today or they can add in, to kind of create this collected, beautiful vibe for their home,” Luftman said.

Home accents include Makers of Wax Goods brand candles with scents including gin and bourbon. Tabletop accessories by Ben Caldwell are made of horn, copper and silver.

The store started with furniture and décor, but Luftman and Maloney have added jewelry collections including pieces by Brooke Worthington of Nashville and Jody Candrian of New Orleans.

For the garden, “We also have brought in plants, fiddle-leaf figs, staghorn ferns,” Maloney said. “We’ve done some really pretty terrariums. So we are a home and garden store and hope to expand in the future into maybe more garden.

Haven also offers interior design. The women will work with what you have, design curtains, offer advice on colors, or order pieces from the store. “We offer a lot of different brands, whether it’s a sofa from a company made in North Carolina to small side tables that are just antique brass and mirrored,” Luftman said. “We source a lot of our items from the Chicago and Atlanta Mart, and they’re quality brands like Baker and Century. Not to mention you can customize anything.”

Store hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Call 859-533-5049 and 859-940-3328.
